10 things you might not know about me

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog. Today I decided to share a little more about myself. If you want to know more, please leave it in the comments below and I will answer them.

1. I work full-time as a legal assistant

I started to work downtown Halifax over 2 years ago now, after graduating from the same program. I had other side jobs before and during but solely work there now. This blog is currently on the side of this job, which is why it took a little bit of time to get started.

2. I have a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies

Before I started the above program, I graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours in International Studies and Modern Languages. I know, not at all related to my current career but I loved everything about it.

3. I lived in Germany for a year

While completing my BA, I did an exchange in my second year and lived in Freiburg-im-Breisgau, Baden-Württenberg, Germany. I loved living in Europe and being able to travel a lot. I met people from around the world that were completing an exchange as well. I am still in contact with most of them.

4. And traveled/backpacked through 16 cities in 6 weeks between my 2 semesters in Germany

While I was in Germany, I took advantage of the six weeks break between our 2 semesters and traveled to all the places: Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland. I was a solo traveler for some of it and with friends for the other parts. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about myself during that time and met so many great people. I cleared a lot of things to see off my bucket list.

5. I use to be fluent in 5 languages

At one point, I was able to speak French, English, German, Spanish and ASL/LSQ. Now, I am fluent in French and English. My German is better than my Spanish but I have not used them for some time. I only know a few signs now.

6. I am from Montreal, Quebec, Canada

I was born in Montreal and raised in a small city on the south shore. I moved back to attend college after my high school graduation. I love this city so much and try to visit as often as I can. My favourites are all the festivals in the summer and the Mont-Royal in the fall.

7. I love baking & am very good at it

This is my stress release activity and my coworkers love it. I try to make healthier options from time to time but sweets are my thing. I can bake almost anything and love trying new recipes. I use this skill mostly for the below.

8. I volunteer with United Way, Breast Cancer Foundation, and Ovarian Cancer Foundation

My work really like to support causes and we always have fundraisers for various charities. I currently help all three and that since I started working there. We often have bake sales and I try to bring something every time.

9. I worked at a summer camp for people with Autism for a summer

This was a great experience and love that summer. It was hard work don’t give me wrong but so much fun. The team was awesome and the participants were fantastic. Since then, I try to support this great cause with awareness and fundraisers.

10. I don’t travel well

Now, I love to travel, discover new places and their people but I have motion sickness so flights, trains, and buses are not great for me. I have to take gravol most of the time to get through it.

Bonus: I was top 5 Miss Canada in 2013

I was a pageant girl and loved the stage, the glamour, the dresses but mostly meeting all those wonderful women full of passion for their causes. I highly recommend it for self-esteem and meeting like-minded women from all over the country. It has a great platform.
