What’s in my closet?

This past long weekend, we upgraded my closet to maximize the space and have some room to breathe and include all my clothes. I inventoried everything I have and decide if it should stay or if I will donate it.  Things that don’t fit properly anymore, I put in the donate pile as well as everything in the wrong size. I made another pile of clothing needing repairs. In short, everything needed to pass every test to stay in. Along the way, I made a list of things I would like to add for the fall, like basic stripe t-shirt or key trending piece for this season. In order to get some inspiration, I use Pinterest (clearly got lost on there for a few hours in the process). It felt so good to finally be able to have all my clothes in one place. Before, I had to put my jackets in the entryway closet and store whatever was not from the current season. In short, below is part of the before (because I started to empty it before taking the picture) and the after with everything in.

Before/After

Work

Most of my closet is for work since I spend 5 days a week there. I have shirts, sweaters, jackets, skirts, pants and dresses mostly in basic colours; black, grey and navy blue. I love wearing jackets during the fall season with scarfs or hats. I can usually mix and match plain pants/skirts with a patterned shirt.

Casual

This is something I would like to improve and include more pieces in my wardrobe. I have a few pairs of jeans (dark blue, light blue, and various level or ripped). I have basic white and black t-shirt as well as a few coloured ones for good measure. I can use some of my work clothes and dress them down with jeans or sweaters whenever needed.

Accessories

I do not wear jewellery often but will put on the occasional necklace or bracelet or hearings. I am a big fan of scarfs in the fall and winter months which means I have a good collection of 5-7 that I use by colour and can mix and match. I developed an interest lately into hats but at the moment, I only have winter hats and 2 fall/summer hats.

I am one of those women with a thing for both shoes and purses. At this point in my life, I do not have a lot of purses (5) or pairs of shoes (25) compare to a lot of people. I now try to take good care of them to make them last more than a few seasons. I also sweat a lot from my feet (TMI!) so it needs to be clean and air in between wears otherwise it starts to smell and that is very hard to get rid of. Since I leave in Canada, I have both winter boots and summer sandals which is why I do have a high number of shoes. As for the purses, I have mostly cross body and 2 oversized shoulder purses.

Things I would like to add

  • A white pair of jeans;
  • A soft blue dress shirt;
  • A white dress shirt;
  • A jeans shirt;
  • A black and white striped t-shirt and long sleeves;
  • A leather jacket;
  • A peacoat jacket;
  • A blanket scarf;
  • A sleeveless jacket/vest;
  • An oversized knit dress;
  • A pair of high knee boots;
  • A trench coat; and
  • Pop of colour items.

If you would like to know more about my style and fashion things I like, here is my Pinterest Board. I will probably be downsizing again in the next few months and replace certain items with some of the above list. If you have any suggestion of brands or companies or places to find the above-mentioned items, please DM me on my social media or on the blog or leave comments below. I always love to discover new brands and fashion is one category I have yet to explore and discover. I try to buy second-hand but I am not opposed to purchasing from an ethical or sustainable brand. I hope this gave you an insight into my personality, fashion sense and rationale behind what I wear daily. As usual, please leave a like or comment if you enjoyed this post and I hope to see you back on the blog soon.
